Association of Rethymnon Volunteers

Celebrating womanhood and acknowledging Eastern influences

The Association of Rethymnon Volunteers meets every Tuesday evening at The Centre for Cretan Folk Art. This group brings together a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds who are interested in contributing in one way or another to the local community.
There are many ways in which people can contribute—some of which may not be immediately obvious. On the right, you see a recent Community Arts Production sponsored by the organisation which profiled female dancing through the ages and aimed to challenge commonly held gender stereotypes: “A Journey of Female Dancing Through Time”. This type of volunteering, in its own way, is just as valuable as the activities that are more conventionally associated as being of community benefit. Breast Cancer Support Group

Chris Parnassus, who is herself a breast cancer survivor, would be interested to hear from anyone interested in joining a breast cancer support / awareness group. Singing for Fun!

Chris would also be interested to hear from anyone who would be interested in joining a singing group — to sing oldies, gospel tunes and/or songs from musicals, just for fun. And is there a piano player out there who would like to act as accompanist? We know that there is a choral group in Agios Nikolaos, but this is a bit far for those of us who live on the Western side of the island to travel.
