August Extravaganza
Even
without the wine festival there are loads of great events taking place in
August. Below are this month’s Renaissance Festival highlights. Unless otherwise
stated, all events take place at Erofili Amphitheatre, within the grounds of the
Fortezza and are scheduled to start at 21:30 unless otherwise stated. Tickets
may be bought in advance from the Town Hall (open Monday—Saturday), and also go
on sale at the respective venue an hour before each performance starts.

Starting at 19:30, the group will walk from Porto Rethymno
Hotel along the beach road, ending up where the Lavyrinthos
used to be. They will then perform Orpheus and Eurydice. |

Lykeio Ellinidon and ends at Porto Rethymnon Hotel. |

Martyrs Square, proceeds through Old Town via Guora Gate,

Opening of exhibition ‘Deconstructing Life’ by art
collective Cocun: Photo Therapy Festival. This exhibition is
spread over several locations including Xenia (opposite
marina), the old Artillery building in the Fortezza and
selected art-cafes. Runs until the 18th. |

‘The Pink Window of Lakkou’ by Kostas Kapetanakis,
exhibition showcasing a variety of media, including
painting, sculpture, lithographs, ceramics and collage. Old
Artillery building in the Fortezza, runs until the 30th. |
