Summer Arts Festival

Barely time to draw breath after the Renaissance Festival and the traditional Summer Festival gets under way. Exhibitions, theatre performances and concerts are taking place at several locations in town. You’ll find details of the schedule below, and printed copies of the programme are available from the kiosk outside the town hall. Advance Booking: Town Hall, Monday to Saturday 09:00 -13:30 (up to four days in advance only!). Erofili Theatre, Fortezza One hour prior to each performance. Tel. 28310 28101. Unless otherwise stated, performances take place in the Erofili Theatre in the Fortezza, and are scheduled to start at 9.30 pm. As ever, the programme is subject to change, so check ahead of time!

03/08 Music and Dance - 35 Years Vrakoforon Club - Crete sings and dances in the Fortezza, with groups from Rethymnon, Hania, Heraklon and Lassithi. Free.

05/08-18/08 - Konstantinos Polioudakis presents "Pictures of Words and Silence", paintings and audio-visual exhibits.
11/09-11/10 - Artists of the Ukraine present "Colour & Movement"

The exhibitions take place in the Artillery Hall and the Ibrahim Han Mosque; both are in the grounds of the Fortezza. Entrance to the exhibitions is free.
