Crete Kennels: August Thoughts
Peter and Kimberley write: ‘Many of our reports seem to be a record of what's going to happen.. well this month we are in
reflective mood... It was twelve months ago (come the 24th) that the builders finally (sic) finished and we moved out of our tent
into the new house and a bed ! Our abode had been the Lidl '6 man tent'... ie it needed 6 people to erect it. There we lived,
surrounded by a cacophony of crickets and the bells of the neighbours’ sheep. No electricity - but there was water for the
shower - a 90 foot length of hose - which, when subjected to the August sun was.... lovely and hot!
We had no privacy, as we were still surrounded by the builders at that time but we coped. We were still at the 'avrio' stage of
all work - ie why complete it today when tomorrow is better ! Our ' hari-tate’ (old English phrase) washing line worked well, except
for the ants, who managed to climb up 7 ft and across 3 ft to inspect Kimberley’s knickers ! Mind you,. it gave her food for
thought.. hence the poem that is to be found on the Science Monitor page.
And yes, a year on, the builders are back... putting right those 'little' mistakes from the first time round …!’
Canine Tip for the month...... Always approach dogs from the front and don't put your hand above the head... start
by rubbing under the chin - that way the dog has a chance to smell you and then knows you mean well.
