Mineral Water?

In this month’s crossword we feature stones. Plus some other things. As the crossword has more clues than usual we’ve shifted the logic problem to the next page - and made the grid a bit bigger, too (people might actually be able to read it now)! You will find solutions to last month’s puzzles below. And remember, there are prizes to be won! You’ll find our leader board and details of the competition guidelines on our Lifestyle Page.

Drunks in Charge of a Country

Drunk in Charge of a CountryHere at International Bugle House we try to be fair minded when it comes to reporting screw-ups by the great and the good from around the globe. Or to put it another way we’re totally non-partisan in terms of dishing the dirt. So here we bring you a couple of wonderful stories about how our European role models (and no, these do not automatically include the Swiss, as ‘role’ would be spelt differently) are letting the side down. As some of you may be aware, in the UK there has recently been a change in government. Time for a breath of fresh air perhaps? Or alternatively, ‘same smell, different coloured ties’. One of the first things the new lot did was to hold an emergency budget (to point out to the nation that Greece isn’t the only country with a cash flow problem). The parliamentary debate about the budget went on for several hours, which meant that MPs didn’t get to vote on it until 2am. So how did these elected representatives make use of their time while they were waiting? By enjoying cut-price refreshments at the House of Commons Bar, of course! One MP was actually honest enough to own up that he got too to drunk to vote. Name of the MP? Mark Reckless. We see a bright future ahead for him, though possibly not in politics. And on the next page…..Fun with Greek Civil Servants!
