Crete Kennels: August Update

Many thanks to Peter and Kimberley for providing us with their August update. They write: ‘There is always time for unusual requests here at Crete Kennels. Last month it was for one of our guests, Ouna the 15 month Rottweiler, who was asked to be there at the wedding service of his owners. Great fun, driving along the highway with Ouna licking our necks from the back of the car – quite a few surprised looks from those overtaking us! It didn’t do much good for the white tee shirts either.

The little church at Skaleta was a beautiful setting – it is so small, that the service was held outside next to the beach. We parked in the car park, but were delayed in getting away…. as always, Greek guests parked anywhere in the road, so we didn’t manage to make the reception. Once we got back we still had all the other dogs to take out and Ouna had to (loudly) tell them where he had been! A marvellous day out and a very different way of attending a wedding. Naturally, many of the Greek guests were taken aback by the presence of a dog at the service (and a Rottweiler at that!). Ouna was so well behaved but of course needed the occasional break on the beach with us, this was also welcomed by the other guests who could then move about.

Just to point out…. it’s not all walking and play here.. a moment for Peter and Rockie to have ‘quiet’ time and a cuddle, away from the mid-day sun under the shade of the trees. At last, the 11 tree circle is now in on the centre of the field - that makes 29 trees planted so far , with another 22 planned. Greatly ‘assisted’ with Max the boxer pup helping Peter dig the holes (somewhere) although he took a fancy to the poles and sledge hammer and kept on moving them around. They have now been inspected (and peed on) but will grow quickly to give another shaded area for the future.’
