More and more people are using the Yoga System for their health and general well-being. What is causing this tendency? Here are some of the reasons….
Practising Yoga promotes health in body, mind and soul – this is a fact that has been scientifically approved. It is a health system that can be learned by people of all ages, both sexes and those at all fitness levels. It improves the condition of cardiovascular diseases, nervous disorders, chronic pains, back problems, respiratory problems (e.g. asthma and bronchitis). Yoga is an effective way to prevent and treat several illnesses, such as diabetes, gastrointestinal diseases, weakness of the kidneys and migraine.
Yoga exercises combined with the yogic way of breathing helps to increase muscle strength and stamina, thus giving a better supply of blood to all organs, especially to the brain, heart and kidneys. Yoga Asanas promotes greater mobility. It helps to release stress. Concentration and performance will increase not only in young people, but also in the elderly. It helps to ease panic attacks and exam nerves. It has supported many people to quit smoking and breaking with old habits. Yoga calms the mind and therefore helps one to sleep better.
It is important to learn the Yoga system under the guidance of a qualified teacher, as misuse of Yoga techniques can cause negative effects to one's health, too. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you only learn the Yoga system through a certified Yoga teacher.
Ursula Angel is a certified Yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance and Ashtanga Yoga Greece.
She teaches Yoga classes in several villages in the Rethymnon area.
