Rethymnon Youth Orchestra: A Great Concert
On December 19th the Rethymnon Youth Orchestra gave an absolutely marvellous concert in the House of Culture. We were lucky enough to be able to listen to a varied repertoire of classical and contemporary music performed by a group of highly talented individuals of all ages.
Conductor Rino Christ, with his enthusiasm and encouragement really brings out the best in local musicians.
Appeal: Do you have a fiddle? Thanks to Bob Wright for providing us with the following information:
The Rethymnon Youth orchestra is seeking instruments for its new young musicians; they are especially looking for violins. This plea comes from Maestro Rino Christ, their mentor and conductor. The orchestra gives several excellent concerts each year, and plays a variety of music from classical to Frank Zappa pop. Recently, Pauline Wiles from Kastellos donated the two clarinets she played as a member of the Womens Royal Army Corps of the British army. The woodwind teacher of the orchestra was absolutely delighted. So look in your attic/ garage/ junk space and consider whether you will ever play your beloved instrument again - perhaps you will give it a new and cherished home with a youngster. If you can help, please either contact Rino direct on 6944758441 or Bob Wright at Villa Estia, Maroulas, Rethymno bobandev@otenet.gr 28310 71221 6947186679
