Friends of Animals: Cat Control Workshop Feedback

Rethymnon Coffee Morning Bugle - Friends of Animals, RethymnonRethymnon Coffee Morning Bugle - Friends of Animals, RethymnonAs reported last month, Friends of Animals Rethymno became a member of the World Society of the Protection of Animals earlier this year. The WSPA organised a ‘Cat Control’ Workshop in Rethymnon that took place between 26th and 28th October. Primary aims of the workshop included helping people to improve their skills and knowledge of feral cat control, trapping, neutering and releasing. Christina Stylianides provides us with the following report:
‘The first day and a half in the classroom was hard going, Rethymnon Coffee Morning Bugle - Friends of Animals, Rethymnonbut we were finally allowed out with our new traps and a lot of new methods in cat trapping to work with. The workshop was very informative and we have since had the opportunity to use our new skills in trapping cats for neutering. We weren’t always successful, but at least now we understand where we are making mistakes. Thanks go to WSPA for offering us the opportunity to do this workshop and to Ian McFarlaine for teaching us our new skills.’
In the January 2008 edition of the Bugle we will bring you feedback from the FOA Christmas Bazaar which takes place as the Bugle goes to print on December 1st.

New Cancer Support Group

A Cancer Support Group has been formed for people who have been through or who are undergoing treatment for cancer, as well as for someone who has recently lost someone to cancer. These are the needs of the current group. It is a diverse group for now and different groups can be formed later on an "as needed" basis. This is a support group not a therapy group, and confidentiality is a given. There is no fee. Meetings will be held on the first Monday of every month (Nov. 5, Dec. 3. Jan 7, etc) in Georgioupolis, at the Samaria in the square, from 11 AM - 1 pm. Carpooling available from Rethymnon. Any questions or comments can be directed to Chris - 6977559644 or email cparnassus@hotmail.com
