Crete Kennels: ‘To all our Guests - Thank You!’
Kimberley and Peter write: ‘Christmas is upon us again, and this year we have a full house. Many of our guests are ‘returnees’ but it is great to see some new faces too! Sorry, no turkey or mince pies, but we do have chicken on the menu and loads of activities planned - we’ll be starting with an early morning walk, having some playtime and will finish up with a late evening stroll. We will be making party hats for all our guests, as we did last year. We have now welcomed over 100 different dogs, each with their own personalities (which makes the job even more fun) and many of them have returned during the year. The nationalities of our guests (and owners!) vary...British, Irish, Scandinavians, Swiss, Americans, and Greeks, but in any case, the English lessons seem to be going well: we start by teaching the word ‘biscuit’ and move on to ‘walk’,’ sit’, ‘come’ and even ‘kennel’. The pleasure we get from hosting our guests and from our new friends on Crete more than makes up for the struggles of the past two years. So, from Milo, Josh, Lui. Zora, Akka, Salo, Sam. Monty, Yazzie and the Cockers – and not forgetting our own Krista - have a good Christmas and New Year! We would also like to remember one of our guests who, sadly, is no longer with us. Lizzie (pictured in the photo) was not the most active of dogs but very loving. We will miss her, and we send our love to Molly, who looked after Lizzie so well and adored her so much.
Canine Tip of the month: PLEASE - no cooked poultry bones for Christmas. Let the dog have some of the cooked poultry meat instead. Also, although it’s tempting, REMEMBER: CHOCOLATES ARE NOT GOOD FOR DOGS!’
