Festive Frolics!

Rethymnon Coffee Morning Bugle - Festive FrolicsHere in Rethymnon we are looking forward to Christmas and gearing up to see out 2008 in style. Over recent years the Chamber of Commerce has organised a series of imaginative events in town over the seasonal period. As we were going to press this year’s municipal Christmas programme had not yet been finalised, once we get details we will provide an update on the www.rethymnon.biz website. If 2007 is anything to go by, expect clowns, street theatre, magic shows, face painting, shadow play, walks with goblins in the park, karaoke, a street market, gifts for children and adults, a special post box for Santa letters and Santa’s Happy Train…. Should be a lot of fun! If you want to find out about some of the more traditional Cretan customs that are associated with the Christmas period see the feature on our Spotlight Page.

On 6th December we celebrate the name day of St Nicholas, patron saint of sailors - not the same as Santa Claus at all! And don’t forget that on the first weekend in December the CIC and Friends of Animals will be hosting their annual charity bazaars - please see our Community Page for further information. As ever, if you would like to publicise an event in the Bugle, get in touch! Our contact details may be found at the bottom of this page.
