Starry, Starry Night

Rethymnon Coffee Morning Bugle - December 2009

We’ve had heaps of lovely sunny days recently - so much so that some of our ’let’s fling some vegetable seeds into the garden and give them a go even though we know we are a couple of months late’ now seem to be doing really well. Look out for loads of spinach in the very near future (well at least we think it’s spinach, the editor was a bit chaotic in her seed sowing)! The island is starting to look wonderful again after the rains. So many different shades of green, and the second ‘autumn flowering’ never ceases to amaze us. Crete is such a beautiful island to be living on…. We can’t believe that it’s coming up to that time of year when we’re all supposed to be ‘rocking around the Christmas tree’. But apparently it is. Anyway, even if it’s a bit early, the Bugle team wish all our readers and contributors a very Merry Christmas and thanks for all your help and support!

December Highlights

Aside from the seasonal theme there are a few surprises too. So we won’t spoil them right now. You will find some Cretan legends, some marvellous Belgian recipes, and at least one story about reindeer. And, of course there’s news from around town, details of local community and charity events, the manic crossword and more!

About ‘The Bugle’

The Rethymnon Coffee Morning Bugle is an independent, monthly FREE publication that was started in January 2007 by the same team responsible for the www.rethymnon.biz website — Kate and Luc Brusten, who have been living and working in Rethymnon for a number of years. The Bugle is geared not only towards the international community living in Rethymnon, but also towards anyone who has an interest in the town. The aim of the publication is to be both informative and light hearted. We welcome feedback and written / photographic contributions from readers. We particularly welcome feature articles that have a Rethymnon slant; if you are considering submitting an article we would ask that you keep to an upper word limit of 500 words.

You will find our contact details and a listing of hard copy distribution outlets at the bottom of our This Month Page.

We hope you enjoy reading our December issue!
