This Month
Leaping into Action! |
|
February in Rethymnon is jam packed with events. Obviously, as we reported on our Around Town page, carnival is the huge celebration this month, but there are plenty of other things going on too! You’ll find details of many of these in this month’s issue, but as ever, check out those telegraph poles around town for posters. As we were going to press the full carnival programme had just been published —
you can find the complete listing on the
www.rethymnon.biz website.
Carnival festivities start on the evening of Friday February 15th at the Square of the Unknown Soldier and finish
with the Grand Parade through town on Sunday March 9th at 2pm. ‘Tsiknopemti’ (Burnt Meat Thursday) is on 28th
February: this is the night when the whole of the old town comes out to party in fancy dress.
February this year is especially important on the romantic front, too. There’s Valentine’s Day on the 14th of
course — and blokes, you’ll find a cautionary tale about what happens to those who forget the flowers in our
logic problem on our Fun and Games page! It’s also a leap year of course, and 29th February is traditionally in
Britain when it is considered acceptable for women to make marriage proposals to their partners.
If you know of an event that you would like to see publicized in the Bugle please contact Kate Brusten by phone
on 28310 54594 / 6942635525 or by emailing editor@rethymnonnews.com — the deadline for the next issue is
22/02/2008.
