Happy Epiphany!

Rethymnon Coffee Morning Bugle - EpiphanyThe Christmas and New Year festivities draw to a close on 6th January - Epiphany. Here in Rethymnon Epiphany is marked by the ceremony of diving for the cross in the Old Harbour. To find out more about this occasion and other January Saints’ Days, see the feature on our spotlight page. Traditionally, January is one of the quieter months in Rethymnon - giving people a chance to recover from all that partying! But there is still lots going on in and around town to keep us entertained. Even more so, now that the new House of Culture has opened in the Old Town. As ever, events tend to be publicized at the last minute so look out for fly posters around town, and also check out the www.rethymnon.biz website for the latest information.

January is also traditionally sales month - with many shops offering substantial discounts on standard prices. And on a sunny winter’s day when town is quiet and relaxed, what could be better than a stroll through the streets of Rethymnon? If you are out and about bargain hunting in town, don’t forget to try looking in the Second Hand Shop ’Magpie’s Nest’- which as you will see from our Lifestyle Section is currently in need of a Fairy Godmother - first. It’s sale time all year round there!
