March Brain Teasers |
|
Thanks to Luc for supplying this month’s crossword, which once again has
a number of Cretan based theme references. As you will also notice,
Kate’s logic problem also has a local theme. We hope you enjoyed the
February puzzles—solutions to those are on this page, and will be online
soon. Solutions to the March brain teasers will be published in the
April issue of CMB. |

Logic Problem: Relatives Come to Visit! |
 |
George loves living on Crete, but every
year he has a problem: How to entertain relatives who come out to visit.
From the clues below, work out the names of the relatives, what George
gives them to drink, which excursion they go on, and what souvenirs they
buy.
George’s first cousin Chris gets incredibly seasick, so the pirate
cruise and boat-trip to Santorini were out of the question.
George tried to be polite about the light-up model Acropolis his uncle
bought. The relative who bought olive oil as a souvenir drinks Metaxa.
George saves his sanity when Maud comes to stay by giving her as much
raki as he can lay his hands on.
Edgar was upset because he couldn’t find any Ouzo to drink at the water
park, and the relative who walked the Samaria Gorge bought the T-Shirt.
Peace finally reigned in the house when George’s mother in law went to
Santorini – she didn’t buy any olive oil |
