Silver Linings?
Weather report? Pretty much like January, it has to be said. It rained a lot, so much so that some of us discovered the true meanings of the words ’storm drains’, ’soggy socks’ and ’tide marks’. Cretan hail actually hurts, too (no such thing as half measures, here). But the parsley in the garden got even curlier and fluffier, and we’re still not sure that the reservoir has enough water. The Carnival season was absolutely fantastic — best ever yet, and true to form for the Grand Parade we actually had a gloriously sunny day (we’ve provided you with a few photos from this great party in Rethymnon in this issue). We’re now in the brief ’recovery position’ that is known as Lent. And, of course, spring is in the air….
March Highlights:
On our Spotlight Page we do something weird with plants. We have an all new crossword competition, and a recipe that actually works as long as long as you don’t set fire to your house. All this plus news and views from around town, updates from local enterprises, details of local community and charity events and much more!
About ‘The Bugle’
The Rethymnon Coffee Morning Bugle is an independent, monthly FREE publication that was started in January 2007 by the same team responsible for the
www.rethymnon.biz website — Kate and Luc Brusten, who have been living and working in Rethymnon for a number of years. The Bugle is geared not only towards the international community living in Rethymnon, but also towards anyone who has an interest in the town. The aim of the publication is to be both informative and light hearted. We welcome feedback and written / photographic contributions from readers. We particularly welcome feature articles that have a Rethymnon slant; if you are considering submitting an article we would ask that you keep to an upper word limit of 500 words.
You will find our contact details and a listing of hard copy distribution outlets at the bottom of our
This Month Page.
We hope you enjoy reading our March issue!
