As you can see from the poster above, the Friends of Animals Bazaar will be hosted on 19th May. It is fantastic
to have the municipal park as a venue, and we hope to see a good turn out from one and all.
A couple of reminders about events we flagged in our April issue:
Jennifer Gay, the gardening correspondent of the Athens News will be giving a talk at the home of Brian Hayes,
Drapanos, near Vamos for the next meeting of the Mediterranean Garden Society at 12 noon on Sunday 6th May.
The event will start with a ‘bring and share’ lunch, followed by an illustrated talk on Jennifer’s work at Sparoza, the
MGS garden near Athens airport. People are encouraged to bring along plants from their own garden and to participate
in a plant exchange. Fees for this event are 10 euros for MGS members, and 15 euros for non-members. For directions
and further information contact: Bob and Eveleen Wright, phone 28310 71221 / 6947186679 or email
bobandev@otenet.gr
Bob and Eveleen will be hosting a coffee and cake morning in aid of the Greek Red Cross on Sunday, 13th May, from
10.30 to 13.00 at Villa Estia, Maroulas. Entrance, 5 euros, which will be used to help local disadvantaged families.
To get to Villa Estia, follow the Arkadi route east of Rethymnon. When you get to Tsesmes, DO NOT take the first turn
to Maroulas, but follow the road towards Adele, past the EKO garage. You will see a closed supermarket (Perakakis) on
the left hand side of the road, take the right turn opposite to Agia Paraskevi and Maroulas. About 100 metres further
on you will come to a three-way junction—take the right turn to Maroulas. Villa Estia is the second house on the right
before the first large bend. SEE YOU THERE! |
