Life's a Beach! |

Here at Bugle Manor we are folding away the duvets and sweaters and
hunting out the swimsuits and beachmats. Obviously, it’s not yet
guaranteed ‘toasty-roasty’ weather and still a bit fresh in the evenings
(if truth be known we actually prefer it this way), but we’ve already
had a fair few great days out in glorious sunshine. On the left, you see
our pretty picture of Plakias Bay. This is about as far as we managed to
get with our promised feature on ‘Beaches in the region’. As you will
discover, we also failed on the fashion front. But we hope that this
month’s issue will still manage to entertain you.

Highlights |
| This month our team have been
working tirelessly (along with eating, drinking, socialising, enjoying
the garden and sunning themselves) in order to bring you an unparalleled
May edition of the Bugle (modesty is of course our strong point). As a
result of international demand, Stella McBarking returns with her cosmic
predictions for May. There are ideas for day trips, and, as usual, news
and views from around town and information about local community and
society events. On a more serious note, our Spotlight focuses on the
Battle of Crete, though clearly in a publication of this size we cannot
begin to do justice to this event. |
Next Month |
|
We have several ideas for the June issue—which will be our six month
anniversary (if that makes any sense). There will be a readership
survey, and of course, the announcement of the winner of the ‘Most
Unusual Place to Pay your Utility Bill Competition’ which was launched
in January (get your entries in now!). We will almost certainly find
space for something about the Summer Solstice, Stonehenge and would-be
Druids. There will probably be a ‘Refreshing Salad’ Section, provided by
our very own Mrs Beeton’s Groupies. As for the rest, put it this way,
everything is up for grabs. Contributions from readers are always
welcome, though, as ever, we prefer features to be no longer than 500
words. One thing that we should bring to your attention is that whilst
our paper will continue to be a free publication our commercial
advertising rates will go up for next month. You will find information
about our new rates along with all our contact details on The Back Page.
Happy reading! |
