Rethymnon Coffee Morning Bugle - May 2009

I was just about to write about how wonderful the weather had been recently when there was a crack of thunder and it started pelting down with rain! But it has definitely been getting warmer since Easter and we have seen an interesting collection of shorts and knobbly knees wandering around town (some of these European ‘fashion statements’ are quite extraordinary). May has to be one of our favourite months here (don’t we say that every month?!). This is when the island really comes into its own. The flowers are all out in bloom, shops and restaurants have opened up for the season, we have visitors, but town is still very relaxed, and everyone you come across seems to have a smile on their face and time for a chat. Happy days!

May Highlights:

On our Spotlight Page we focus on our trip to Zaros and Agia Galini. We bring you some fascinating facts about ants, and our crossword is as eccentric as ever. All this plus news and views from around town, some ‘eco tips’, updates from local enterprises, details of local community and charity events and much more!

About ‘The Bugle’

The Rethymnon Coffee Morning Bugle is an independent, monthly FREE publication that was started in January 2007 by the same team responsible for the www.rethymnon.biz website — Kate and Luc Brusten, who have been living and working in Rethymnon for a number of years. The Bugle is geared not only towards the international community living in Rethymnon, but also towards anyone who has an interest in the town. The aim of the publication is to be both informative and light hearted. We welcome feedback and written / photographic contributions from readers. We particularly welcome feature articles that have a Rethymnon slant; if you are considering submitting an article we would ask that you keep to an upper word limit of 500 words.

You will find our contact details and a listing of hard copy distribution outlets at the bottom of our This Month Page.

We hope you enjoy reading our May issue!
