Crete Kennels: November Update

Rethymnon Coffee Morning Bugle - Crete Kennels
Rupert

Many thanks to Peter and Kimberley for providing us with their news:
“Winter draws in, so the thick coats are out, gloves are ready and new wellies bought…. but as we write this (23.10.09)… where is the rain?
We are ready for the planting and re-seeding but we would like a little rain (one day a week?) to save us from all the watering ! So far, the centre tree is in the field and the ancillary trees are dug in…. We’re thinking and planning ahead to providing more shade for the next year’s guests.”

Peter and Kimberley continue by writing:
“As they say, ‘be careful what you wish for’…. We have now had the rains – and the thunder and lightning! – so we spent a day with canine guests, talking to them and pacifying them. The dogs now do understood Peter’s explanation of what was happening (and also the meaning of life)… all necessary to calm them down and to ease their worries.

More about our special guests – Rupert wowed everyone at the airport as he returned to the UK last month and was so well behaved for a Labrador. Sadly, of course, his owners were hoping for two of their dogs to go back, but as we told you in our October update, Jacob will stay with us forever.

When we are helping owners to repatriate dogs to the UK we keep coming across the same problems with shipping… remember, you do need the original blood test that was taken after the Rabies jab and then you must get the booster done every 364 days and marked in the pet passport. ANY breaks in this means that your dog or cat cannot go back until you have gone through the six month wait. If you have a passport, please make sure it is dated and marked before the rabies jab and subsequent blood test - this costs about 90 Euros).

On to happier thoughts.. We are now making the hats ready for our Christmas festivities and planning the menu and activities for the holiday period – we’ll tell you more next month!”
