Kind of Blue....

Rethymnon Coffee Morning Bugle - Kind of Blue....

Here you can see the sculpture in the marina of two dolphins entwined. This is the symbol of ancient Rithimna and is to be found on coins from the region dating back to the 4th Century BC. The backdrop of a flawless blue sky (which looks like it’s been applied with a paint roller!) typifies the summer here. Well, hot and hectic August has been and gone, the Greek holiday season is over and we have managed to survive the social frenzy. It’s not that we didn’t enjoy the summer festivities, we had a great time partying with friends old and new. But it’s time to take a bit of a breather - we’re no longer spring chickens by any means and we need to catch up on our beauty sleep! We’re looking forward to the prospect of a cool and calm September, and even to seeing a few clouds in the sky….

September Highlights:

For the September edition we focus on Greek Gods and the weather. We provide a review of the cultural events that took place in August as part of the Summer Festival. And for our food and drink section we’ve travelled to the Caribbean. All this plus listings of community events, news and views from around the region and more!

About ‘The Bugle’

The Rethymnon Coffee Morning Bugle is an independent, monthly FREE publication that was started in January 2007 by the same team responsible for the www.rethymnon.biz website — Kate and Luc Brusten, who have been living and working in Rethymnon for a number of years. The Bugle is geared not only towards the international community living in Rethymnon, but also towards anyone who has an interest in the town. The aim of the publication is to be both informative and light hearted. We welcome feedback and written / photographic contributions from readers. We particularly welcome feature articles that have a Rethymnon slant; if you are considering submitting an article we would ask that you keep to an upper word limit of 500 words.

You will find our contact details and a listing of hard copy distribution outlets at the bottom of our This Month Page.

We hope you enjoy reading our September issue!
