Bird Watching? |
This is not America and it’s not our cat, either, though try
telling that to the cat. Cats in any case are laws (claws and paws?)
unto themselves, Cretan cats are something else entirely….just one of
those things about living on this beautiful, if somewhat eccentric
island.
November has arrived and we’ve already had the first major downpour of
the autumn in Rethymnon (ever wondered why there isn’t a word for
’drizzle’ in Greek?). Some of us were dancing and going ’yippee’ after
the long hot summer, others were running around wielding mops. The rain
never seems to last that long here, though, and it’s always a good
excuse to stay in your favourite Taverna, close to a wood-burning stove,
drinking tin jugs of the local krasi…. |
November Highlights: |
|
This month’s issue benefited from a number of contributions made by
regular readers (thanks to all!), helping to make The Bugle both
informative and entertaining. You’ll find plenty of ideas for winter
activities in Rethymnon (some, as you will see, new for 2007!), details
of local community events, some ’news and views’ and even a bit of
history. On the other hand, it being the season, ’nuts’ also figure in
these pages, too. |
